Product Overview
FZ-2F [Casio FZ-1 Dual Filter & VCA]
The FZ-2F is a module featuring the special filter used in the Casio FZ-1 released in 1987 and its rack version, the FZ-10M.
It uses chips (MB87186) removed from actual instruments.
This is a clone of ALM014 FIZZLE GUTS, developed by ALM Busy Circuit and released as open source.

It features two resonant filters and a VCA, with a mix output.
The FZ-1's filters spark debate even among experts—whether they are analog (digitally controlled) or fully digital—so we deliberately labeled them DUAL DIGITAL ANALOG FILTER on the panel.
※ Moddict suspects it's a custom IC that enables digital control of an analog switch capacitor filter while adding components to allow features like resonance.

The sound has a distinctive character, and while it has the drawback of introducing a crackling high-frequency noise depending on the filter position, its unique darkness can perfectly complement samples and synth sounds, making it hard to part with.
