Product Overview
Poet Selector [PWS25-F6] [Stereo processor + Classic Sampler Filter]
The Poet Selector [PWS25-F6] is a digital-analog module that combines stereo utility and bit crusher functions, a digital section with high-pass and band-pass filters, and analog switched capacitor filters used in the Akai S612.
The digital section features an intuitive preset selector and the ability to morph/crossfade parameters.
◾️Stereo Utility
・Pan
It has a stereo pan that touches the left and right sides of the stereo input. It is equipped with a “gentle margin” that allows you to return to the center even if it is not exact.
• Pan CV Attenuator
An attenuator for ±5V Pan CV. When turned toward Focus, it sends Pan CV to the current state; when turned toward Dual, it sends Pan CV to the next preset.
• CV Alternate
When enabled, turning the Pan CV Attenuator toward Dual reverses the Pan CV sent to the next preset.
Executing this between panels or presets enables Ping Pong Pan.
・Stereo Imager
A Stereo Imager using M/S processing. Turning it toward mono makes it monaural, and turning it toward wide expands the stereo feel.
Morphing with presets enables you to achieve an amazing texture.
Equipped with a “gentle margin” at the center.
• L/R Invert
Enabling this button inverts the L/R signals.
Combining it with Pan or Stereo Imager and mixing in presets can create an intense texture.
◾️Bit Crusher
・Bit Reduction
You can reduce the bits from 16 to 4.
It is applied in order from the smallest sounds, so you can adjust the level of application in more detail with the Input Gain.
The more you turn it from right to left, the more bits are reduced, and there is a “gentle margin” on the right side
to prevent it from being applied when you don't want it to be.
Supports ±5V CV, with bits reduced by voltage on the positive side.
• Samplerate Reduction
Reduces the sample rate from 44100 to 400.
Creates a gritty sound, which can be controlled with an LPF.
Turning it from right to left reduces the rate, and there is a “gentle margin” on the right side. It supports ±5V CV, and the rate decreases with positive voltage.
◾️Highpass/Bandpass Filter◾️
• Highpass Filter
Turning it from left to right increases the cutoff of the highpass filter.
It supports texture adjustment and DJ-style play.
There is a “gentle margin” on the left side.
It supports ±5V CV, and the cutoff increases with positive voltage.
• Bandpass Filter
Press the Bandpass button to switch.
• Disable
Press the button to bypass the highpass/bandpass filter.
You can move the filter and return it in one step.
◾️Preset Section
・Preset Selector
Up to 8 preset slots can be registered at the preset selector position.
When there are no presets, or when turned all the way to the left, it enters “Live” mode and the panel status changes.
The white POT and each button on the panel correspond to the presets.
When the Preset Selector is in the Preset Slot position, the Slot LED lights up.
You can morph/crossfade between Live and Slot.
The digital section of the Preset Selector always processes two stereo channels simultaneously, so crossfading is used to achieve effects that cannot be expressed by morphing alone, such as button states.
Even during a preset, you can apply the POT and buttons of the slot last touched by the Preset Selector.
Supports ±5V CV.
• Save button
Pressing the button registers the preset at the Preset Selector position.
Pressing the button at a slot location overwrites the preset.
If you are near the Live position or there are already eight presets registered and you cannot register another one, the Slot LED will flash twice.
・Clear button
Move the Preset Selector to the preset position and press this button while the Slot LED is lit to delete the preset.
Press and hold for more than five seconds to make the Clear button flash and delete all presets.
• Morph button
When the button is enabled, morphing/crossfading between Live and Slot becomes active.
When disabled, morphing/crossfading between Live and Slot is disabled, allowing you to “roll” between presets.
(Morph mode is more prone to producing a “pop” noise.)
• Live button
Pressing the button switches to Live mode, which allows you to access the panel at any time. Pressing the button again returns you to the preset corresponding to the Preset Selector position.
◾️Lowpass Filter
The rear section of the digital section features a stereo analog switched capacitor filter used in the Akai S612.
As you turn it from left to right, the cutoff decreases.
The IC has a fixed resonance setting, which gives it a unique flavor.
Since it is independent from the preset section, you can create slow developments as well.
It supports ±5V CV.
